We started off today by celebrating Aubriana's birthday. She did a great job with leading the class in our birthday song since our sound wasn't working on the SmartBoard!
If anyone knows me well, they know that I LOVE to incorporate songs with my teaching...insert Kindergarten has become a PERFECT fit for me! ;) Thanks to Mrs. Hardin, I have now been able to teach the kids how to spell the months through songs. I love how Mr. Zachary (our teacher today) really took his time thinking about the songs to spell December and cloudy!
We're learning the letter Ee this week and have already discovered that it is a complicated letter that comes with many sounds! Avaleigh did a great job with sounding out elephant! She wrote it once but quickly realized that the word had more sounds than she wrote. I'm proud of how the whole class pitched in with the sounds!
Have you heard that we've been spying on Santa and his reindeer? We check in at 10:00 everyday. You can watch it, too, at reindeercam.com. He comes out to feed the reindeer 3 different times throughout the day.
We reviewed what length is this afternoon during math, then we learned about weight. Carrie helped us figure out the difference between heavy and light objects. The kids had some great reasoning as to why they thought something was heavy or light.
Each month we get to highlight the kids that are considered to be "Eagles of Excellence". They all got a pencil and their name is displayed on the wordle board near the Counselor's Cove.
Our Marvelous Music star for today was Emann. Woohoo!
