Let's go to the Hop!

As we all know, today was Halloween. But it was also the 50th day of school, which in a Kindergarten teacher's mind means having a 50s Sock Hop! Today was a bunch of fun!

Miss Alexee was a great teacher in her poodle skirt. I wonder if teachers in the 50s ever imagined of using a SmartBoard. Ha!

Breanna's dad was our Watchdog Dad today. The kids had fun getting to play some math games with him. He was also a huge help with our Sock Hop!

Wouldn't it be great if teachers could dress like this everyday? I would totally dig it!

How awesome is this pic of Breanna in action?!?!

Of course you can't have a Sock Hop without some hula hoops. Man, these girls were really good!

This was about one of the only shots that I could get of the boys in action...they were all over the place!

This dance party was right up my little dancers (Avaleigh and Rachel) allies!

Check out these faces! Rachel was doing a great "experiment" with her Root Beer float (You know about the whole solid/liquid/gas thing right? Ha!) The boys were impressed with her bubbles!

Justin and Emilio sure did love their cookies!

I was so impressed with all of these poodle skirts! Total cuteness!

Isn't he handsome?

Not too bad of a pic for a bunch of Kinders with Halloween on their minds!

All of my girls looked so cute!

And these boys sure were handsome!

Oh yeah! And we went to Computer Lab today to do a little bit of learning. ;) they really are getting the hang of using the mouse and maximizing their screens.

Before I go to bed, I had to share a pic from my night with my favorite little people (my niece as witch, my son as a pirate, my daughter as a rock star, and my little niece as a ladybug).

I hope that everyone had a safe Halloween tonight! I can't wait to hear about their evenings tomorrow at school. Some of them predicted that would get at least 1,000 pieces of candy or more! Lets just hope that they didn't eat that many pieces tonight! ;)

A terrific Tuesday!

Team Dees had a busy, but fabulous day for learning today!

Mr. Emilio was teacher for the day and did an excellent job with helping us count by 2s during Calendar Math.

Ms. Signaigo, our counselor, came to our room today to talk to us about being responsible.

We also had a vibist from Ms. Kim, Zachary's mom. She rea Where's My Mummy? to the class.

Then she did a craftivity with them. They loved getting to make some pumpkins. And did a bat job with following decorations!

Jessica and Chloe did a great job of sharing their stickers! This is a skill that we're still working on in our class. ;)

Thanks, Ms. Kim, for working with these cuties today!

I'm so proud of these PE superstars, Elisa and Aaron!

I'm so proud of my friend, Elisa! She showed a great example of STAMINA today! We drew self-portraits today and made labels of ourselves. Just before she wanted to give up, I saw that she correctly labeled her picture with blue eyes, leg, and feet. I've got some really hardworking Kinders!

A Happy Monday

As soon as I got to my classroom this morning, I found this red poster on my door along with a few goodies on my table from some of my former 3rd graders. This sure did put a BIG smile on my fave and was a great way to start off my week!

The poster has a bunch of happy-grams from these cute girls. I especially love the pic of Diet Coke, the Razorbacks, and chocolate!

On my table, I found a typed book personally written by these girls and a bag. Look at what I found inside the bag. Isn't it cute?

We blended phonemes today and then practiced writing the sounds that we heard when stretching out the words. Check out those awesome words! There's bug, leaf, rock, web, book, and cat. I love how they really thought about the sounds!

A fabulous Friday

We've been talking a lot this week about our Halloween costumes. I must sat that it sound alike there are some creative and cute costumes out there! Emilio is going to be a Swat Team member...he had to bring me a picture of it to prove it. ;)

Miss Carrie was a great Teacher for the Day. She helped us sort through the sounds of the letter t today.

I hope your kiddos ave been talking about rhyming words with you at home this week. We've gotten really good at playing Hot Potato with word family rhyming games.

Aaron and Rachel were chosen as my Kids with Character for showing responsibility. Way to go guys!

I taught the kids how to play memory with Ten Frames and teen numbers. It's was great practice for recognizing the Teen Family!

And, of course, we couldn't end the day without showing some Hog spirit. Hopefully, our support will earn us a W!!!

I had to share this happy that my little friend, Lezlie, brought me this morning. As sweetly as could be, she handed me this leaf first thing this morning. She said, "Here, Mrs. Dees, I brought you a leaf. It's nature." Man, I love the sweetness of my Kinders!

Transportation and the "write" stuff

We learned about transportation this week in Social Studies. The kids got a kick out of getting to see early types of transportation (model T's, unicycles, carriages, etc.)!

We talked about how to plan out our stories in our minds today before we write them down. These cuties were a great help with helping me write about my Halloween costume.

The kids quickly pointed out that the words were all jumbled up.

They were happy to help me get it right!

I'm back!!!

I have finally been able to get my iPad worked on, so I will be slowly adding posts from the past few weeks in addition to what's currently going on. But for now, we'll start from today...

I don't know about you, but I think these are the cutest Western kiddos giving "Drugs the Boot". We were too busy yesterday after being out for a few days, so I didn't get to snap a pic of them in their pjs (for meeting our Boosterthon pledge incentive) and shades to "Shade out Drugs".

Today we got to hang out in the library loft. How many of you had one of these in your school growing up? I love this area! The kids did a great job with building stamina and reading to themselves!

I love this pic of Justin and Avaleigh talking to John and Carrie about speaking Spanish! As soon as I tried to take a pic of them having this serious convo, they all 4 looked down to start reading. Ha!

We also went to Computer Lab this afternoon and learned how to type on the keyboard using www.abcya.com. Check it out...totally cool website!
