Day 115

I forgot to snap a pic of our art student yesterday, so Macy's mom sent this to me. Way to go Macy!

These two cuties brought in a BUNCH of change to help fill our box this morning! Wow! The box got heavy!!!

In phonics, we reviewed word families and then worked on spelling the pictures by sounding them out.

These two sweeties found one of my Dr. Seuss books an were so cute taking turns reading to each other.

We had visitors from the Mosaic Templar. The kids enjoyed listening to the story about how everyone can get along no matter what their skin color. Then they got to make friendship bracelets.

The color key explains hat the beads meant on their bracelets.

Here are our two PE all stars standing next to Cat in the Hat. BTW...don't forget to send your kiddo in a re shirt and jeans on Monday to help us celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday!

Here's a pic of my sweetheart with my daddy (Drew was out of town) for the daddy/daughter dance. I know they had a blast so I can't wait to hear the stories on Monday from my little friends. Don't forget to send me a pic from your little girl's special date!

During math, they had to solve a word problem. I love watching a few of then proudly explain their work to the rest of us!

Mrs. Geurin's class had to be sent to the other K classes for a short bit, so we got to spend some time with these sweeties (I know I'm a little biased about one!).

We also got to learn about George Washington Carver and all about his inventions.

I ended up my day receiving these goodies as a reminder (I mean motivator) for what I've gotten myself into for the weekend. Here's to hoping the weather will cooperate now!

We learned more ug words by reading a bug story on ABCmouse.com and then practiced spelling some of the new words.

We even learned a new blend...sl.

During this reading group, I asked them to close their eyes and make a picture in their min about the setting of the story. Gray told me that all he could see was black. Ha!

These sweet girls added more change to the box too!

For snack time, we had "Pirates Booty". I had to take a pic to show you that it's a real thing in case you hear your kiddos talk about it. This is one of my family's fave snacks!

This week in Social Studies, we're focusing on famous African Americans. We watched a visor about Rosa Parks today. We all agreed that she was so brave to say no when the bus driver told her to stand up.

We learned how to play a fun matching game using the teen numbers. It was a hit with everyone!

I was glad to have a few of Mrs. Glover's friends join us all day. It was fun to hear their point of views on certain things too!

In phonics. We leaned about the ug word family. They drew some great pictures of bugs and then added other ug words.

Mrs. Jenkins worked on more analogies with them today. They really had to use their thinking brains with these!

Emma wrote "Butterly is to wing as red is to color."

Sophie brought a "George Washington bill" to show us since we've been learning all about Washington and Lincoln.

In math we learned how much our first initial is by using 10s and 1s. Once more...they had to really use their brain in this activity!
