This week we've been reviewing short a word families. So yesterday they got to work with their partner to build various short a words (both real and nonsense). They had so much fun that they begged me to let them keep doing it during center time and continue today! Ummm....lets see...my Kinders want to keep learning? Uh...ok! ;)

I LOVE that Wes and Avaleigh built the word "dap" and that I got to teach them why it wasn't a nonsense word! This seriously brought me back to my high school days at Central! :)

During small groups, we reviewed the sight words "I" and "am". Lezlie did a great job of illustrating these captions with details! The sunshine even has sunglasses on!

I had to show this 100-piece puzzle that Team Dees worked on yesterday! Since I had to leave early on Monday, they didn't get a chance to finish it, so I let them work on it and finish it. Man, this was a great motivator to get them to work on writing also because I wouldn't let them work on the puzzle until they finished their independent writing. Hmmmm...maybe I'm on to something. ;)

During Computer Lab, Mrs. Morton had the kids use their creative brains by creating something with 100 snowballs.

Chloe had a lot of detail in hers!

Aaron created a reindeer on Santa's sled.

Today, during Phonics, we reviewed word families again while looking at some blends as well.

I'm so proud of Jessica for figuring out the sc blend to make scat.

John and Elisa did a Greta job with make some new words.

I love how Aaron and Alexee showed great teamwork during partner time!

During Writing today, we worked on writing how to stories. These cuties did a fabulous job of verbally explaining to me how to brush their teeth! They especially enjoyed getting to tell me that they spit at the end. Ha! I was extremely impressed with their stamina during this time considering how much they had to write! We all got close to having a meltdown when they realized they would have to write more than one sentence. But after I gave everyone some Focus a potion, they preserved and completed the assignment!

Chloe did an awesome job with sharing her how to story with her friends.

During math today, we worked on a word problem about Skittles. YUM! Alexee visualized the skittles in each bag and was able to skip count by 10s. Wow!

Elisa figured out that she could draw 3 Skittles in 3 bags and realized that it didn't match what she originally thought (3+3=6). After looking it over she noticed that she needed to add another +3 to come up with 9. Wow!
