Fire drill, building stamina, all about me, and the color red

Today we practiced our first fire drill of the year. I must say that Team Dees did a fabulous job! I'm so proud to be able to take them into the hallway and know that they will do the right thing!

We also have been working on building stamina during independent reading time. Our goal is to be able to read quietly without disturbing anyone for 20mi it's so that I will be able to meet with small groups. We made it to 3 minutes today before it got too noisy. I that doesn't sound very long considering our goal, but I'm proud of them...it's hard to be quiet for such a ling time!

We also got to listen to a few students share their scrapbook page. I'm so impressed with the creativity and their presentation skills! You can help at home by making sure that they are looking at you while they're talking.

How many times have you heard about the color red via song? We'll be learning the colors of the rainbow in the upcoming weeks by identifying various objects of that color and lean ring how to spell the color.
