Check out Miss Sassy Maya showing off her apron that she likes to play cooking or shopping in!
We then moved onto shared reading. This will help them develop their concepts of reading and other important skills. So Pete the Cat helped us recognize some color words. I was so impressed that the kids already knew a lot of the words too! Miss Maya and Peter helped us find "am".
I read a really sweet story to the kids called The Kissing Hand. It's all about letting your child go to school but not missing their mommas at the same time. Ask them about their kissing hands!
This afternoon, I got to learn who lives in everyone's homes. We created houses to show who lives in our homes. I was soooo proud of their listening skills during this activity!!!!!!
Sadly, I forgot I take a final pic of anyone's project, but this is the example. They turned out so cute! And I learned that some of my Kinders have a lot of folks staying in their homes!
I also read another one of my favorite author's books...Chrysanthemum. I love how this book teaches you that everyone is unique including your name!
I love this book so much that I even dressed up as one of the characters in the book for a book character day when I was pregnant with my daughter because the character was pregnant too. The ironic thing is that my daughter has 13 letters in her name just like Chrysanthemum...poor thing! 😃
We then learned Howard letters everyone on my team has in their names. The most that anyone had was 7...phew!
Since we were talking about our names an we've been working so hard on rainbow writing letters, we combined the two for another letter recognition activity.
They look great on my wall!
Whew! We had a busy day!!! But we learned a lot! I'm looking forward to a fabulous week with my new friends!!!
