TUESDAY
We played Hot Potato with the BL blend. They're getting faster and more creative, even with nonsense words!
We edited our question homework from last night and practiced answering in complete sentences.
Before we transitioned to math, all of my cuties started singING my new "ing" song I made up and started puttING their heads together like below. It was pretty hilarious and cute!
During math, we practiced with. Umber bonds by playing a number bond partner game. They loved it!
I took the cuties to PE, but came back with more kangaroos and some all stars. Way to go!
On Wednesday, Miss Avaleigh was our teacher and did a great job with trying out our new Chit Chat format. They loved it!
I must say that I was pretty impressed with the creativity of the push/pull homework!
How cool is this? We had a personal visit from author Aaron Reynolds yesterday! He was fabulously entertaining!!! He read aloud his most current book, Creepy Carrots. He then explained the publishing process by using students to help us visualize. Then some of the kids got to ask him IMPORTANT questions only. You know, like..."What kind of pet do you have?" He has 4 cats btw...awesome! And my all time favorite question, "What is your favorite dinosaur?" Then we got to say hi to him on our way out of the 5th grade flex space (that was even so cool for the kids to get to go UPSTAIRS!).
When we got back from recess, the kids decided to write about the author during free write time. I had some awesome sentences and illustrations!
We then got started on our Leprechaun writing. They made some pretty cute leprechauns!
Today we worked on our BR blend some more. They did an AWESOME job with sounding out the words and spelling new words! Then they drew about a time when they were BRave. Wow! I've got some adventurous kids in my class! One wrote/drew about when they were jumping off of a mountain into the water. Aaron drew about a time when he and his family went into a cave. Yikes!
Look at what Elisa got today! An autographed copy of Back of the Bus by Aaron Reynolds. So cool! She even let me read it to the class during our writing time about forming our own opinions.
I will not be there tomorrow because I will be in Texas with my family celebrating my PaPa's life. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
