A Seussical week

We finished up February yesterday with a god ole' workout. Since we were exploring the PL blend, we practiced doing planks in class. Ummm...pretty cute! The funny part was that one of the kids said the word "plank" to add to our PL chart. I thought of the core strengthening, but they were thinking of walking the plank on a pirate ship. Ha!

I love John's expression!

I wonder who had their parents try this last night. I wonder who can outlast who. ;)

During writing, we completed our invitations for our pretend parties. I must say that I have some creative party planners in my class! We had parties planned for trips to outer space and for Light Saver parties. No matter what the party was, they did great with correctly writing the day of the week and month that the party will be!

We took a little brain break and watched a rap version of Cat in the Hat yesterday afternoon. It was fun change of pace for them!

Can you believe that it's already March?!?! I sure can't! We started off this morning with some impromptu show and tell. Breanna brought a cute heart placemat that she made. She helped us count the hearts.

Can you tell what Elisa brought? I seriously thought it was a blood covered tooth that she lost! Ha! Nope! It was a tiny rock that she found last night that she thought was beautiful because it was small, shiny, and had a red spot. ;) after I admitted that to the kids, they had a good time laughing at me as did I!

Since it's a new month, we got to learn our new song for the month. So fun...it's to the tune of "BINGO"!

During Phonics, we worked on the PL blend some more. What better way to practice the PL blend than to build an airPLane! They got to practice using their "1st grade glue" to build these things. I love Wes' concentration!

Emilio was in heaven! He loves anything with building or anything to do with military!

During centers today, Lezlie wrote this in her journal during Read to Self time. It says "He tried some and he was glad!" I love the drawing!

This afternoon, we had some green eggs and ham fun! We graphed to see who thought they might like them. Chloe had for sure never had them and was CERTAIN that she would not like them, Sam I am!

We then graphed to see who had actually eaten green eggs and ham before.

We learned that only 13 of our friends had tried them before.

Soooo...Alexee's mom was gracious enough to provide these yummy green eggs and ham for us today.

Chloe just wasn't sure about it. Check out Nicholas' face as she tried it! Priceless!

Nicholas, on the other hand, was certain that he was going to LOVE them!

Who knew that green eggs could be so messy?

After we tried our treat, they wrote about what to thought about it. Emann said that they were fabulous! Great adjective choice!

However, Aaron said that he hated them. His drawing eve had a "bleh" detail! Ha!

After we ate, we re-graphed to see what everyone thought now. It turned out that only 12 of these cuties liked green eggs and ham. However, we were able to get Chloe change her mind...she loved them!

After our green eggs fun, we had a visit from my old Team Dees friends. McKenzie read The Cat in the Hat.

Rachel brought us this fun Dr. Seuss book for us t read today.

My friend, Anna, did a great job reading this silly story to them!

I guess Team Dees is pretty cool because we got a chance to go to art for a 2nd Tim this week! Mrs. West's 5th graders created an alphabet coloring book and they had to read the book to another class, so my cool class was chosen to listen. It was fun for me to see some if my former Team Dees friends! And the Kinders loved seeing/hearing the story!

I had to show my "retro" shirt that I wore today from UofA Homecoming 1997. That wasn't that long ago was it! ;)

I hope that you all have a Seusstastical weekend!
