Fabulous Friday!

We made it through our first full week of Kindergarten! Can you believe it?

I started off my Friday with a few happies. Emma brought me another apple! I've been teaching for 9 years and have never received one and I get two this week! So cute!

And Lilly brought some play doh and colored pencils for the classroom. These special things just make letter recognition in the writing center so much better! A BIG THANK YOU to everyone else that has fulfilled other items from my class wish list! I truly appreciate it!!!

Today these cuties got to share their first homework assignment and tell all about themselves. I was so amazed with everyone's confidence during their share time!

This was my other MAJOR happy...Mr. Clark delivered my reading table this morning!!!! I truly didn't expect to have any furniture before school started and then all of a sudden, furniture has been steadily arriving since last week! My room is now completely furnished!!!!

During our "practice recess" this morning, I bumped into my little Kinder. Miss Sophie said we had to take a pic since we were twinkies today. Sophie did a great job!

During math we got to do some more exploration with our manipulatives. This week has been all about learning the rules and how to properly use our math tools. So I let them use their imagination. They loved getting to "play with these big Legos" (aka work with snap cubes).

Max told me he was being creative and wanted to build a Pegasus.

Peter built a hammer...

...while Gray built a mallet.

Sean and Kevin worked well together to build a lot of different things!

And Miss Emma made a skyscraper.

Since I read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom earlier, Mariana made a coconut tree. So cute!

After all of our working, I took the class to their first visit with Coach D in PE. They are going to have fun!

I hope y'all have an awesome weekend and get some much needed rest! Meanwhile enjoy these pics from our first day!

Yesterday we started with our first Queen of the Day. Miss Macy was a great first queen!!! She even brought some books for me and my daughter! So fun!

A girl after my own heart...a Razorback fan! WPS!!!

We also worked on Rainbow Write with the letter B. before we got out our rainbow colors, we worked on our rainbow song. The kids amazed me with identifying the word "and" three times!

Wednesdays are sort of a long day for us, so I added some time to sing about calendar math. Since I love to sing even though I'm terrible at it, I usually add dancing into it. So we learned the Months of the Year while doing the Macarena. Let me tell you...I've taught the Macarena to this age group since I was in high school and teaching dance and watching this age group do this dance need gets old!

We did get to visit the Computer Lab yesterday and we took some time getting to learn all of the parts of the computer. I even had one cutie call a CPU a CPU! What? I don't think I even knew what that was until I came to Roberts four year ago! They even enjoyed the fact that they were sitting on a keyboard rug!

Today Miss Shona was our queen. She did an awesome job with explaining all of the things that she likes!

Has your child finished their first homework assignment? A few o our friends have already Brigitte their collages back. We learned that Emma's family is Hungarian and that she likes pickles.

We leaved that Cason loves the movies and his family.

And Sean's mom is from Korea and his dad is from Italy. What a neat family background!

Today I let them use their scissors AND glue! Did you know that we even have rules for how to use these? You can let your child practice their cutting skills at home by using play doh scissors or practice cutting the lines on paint samples. Remember to always keep your thumb on top!

We learned the you can't twist your glue sticks up too high because it might break. This group did a great job showing is how to twist the glue sticks up properly!

A fabulous first two days of kindergarten!

I'm so excited that I got to spend the past two days with this cute group of Kinders! I think we're going to have a great year!

First of all, I got to send my own daughter to kindergarten yesterday morning! We were pretty excited about that! I hope your child came home with a bunch of exciting stories like I got to hear last night!
We all took turns introducing ourselves to our new friends and then we took turns writing our names. I have to say that I'm impressed that everyone in the class can write part or all of their name! Woo hoo!

I read Pete the Cat to the class yesterday after lunch an then we went on a hunt to find him in the building. He left us notes in all of our fine arts rooms. He took us all over the school but we never found him!

Today I got to introduce King/Queen of the Day to the class. I got to be the queen and got to tell them all about my favorite things. Be on the lookout for my polka dot bag for your King or Queen to fill for Show and Tell!

We got to practice spelling my name by listening to the sounds. They did a great job by sounding out my name!

Then my Kinders got to draw portraits of me. They got it right didn't they?!😃

We got to start a fun way of learning how to write today as well. We will be doing Rainbow Write to help learn letter formation and help us develop our listening skills. They did a great job!

During math, we learned how to work with manipulatives. They were really creative with sorting by color, size, or shape! Some even made cool buildings and vehicles!

This afternoon they went to music class. They are so lucky to have such a talented teacher!

We've been busy the past two days, but we've had lots of fun! I'm really looking forward to getting to work with this group this year!

Be sure to check this blog often for updates!

Our last full Thursday and Friday

I sniffed a little when I typed the title. I'm going to miss these little cuties!
Jessica brought some goodies to donate to Moore, OK. I'm so impressed with the support that this school has given OK!

Adam brought me a ladybug shell Thursday. So cute!

John brought a game that he got from a Mexican party to share with us today. So fun!

Justin brought his WWF championship belt for show and tell. We had fun taking turns being the champion!

I had to even try it since I used to each it with my daddy at this age. Crazy right?

The kids got to eat lunch in the classroom on Thursday. They loved the change!

On Friday, Miss Rachel brought her cast that he had taken off on Thursday for show and tell. I think this won the prize for funniest show and tell I've had!

These cuties have been working on a surprise puppet show for me all week. They were so funny about making sure that I never saw it before they performed! They did a great job!

Alexee's last day was Friday. So the kids had to give her an unprompted group hug. I love how they have really become a family in here!

We had some cute healthy snacks today from Nicholas. It's amazing how cuteness makes everything more appetizing!
